Local Schools Working Together
The Australian Government has begun a pilot program looking at how schools that are close together can share facilities such as gyms, language centres, music schools, libraries and other large infrastructure projects. The program aims to provide students with access to facilities that individual schools may find difficult to fund alone and encourage liaison between private, public and independent schools.
The program can be extended to include third parties such as business or local councils with the option to extend access to the facility across the community.
The initial pilot will involve about 25 projects across Australia. It is hoped the program will provide an opportunity to develop high quality facilities for our children.
I encourage you to find out more information about the program at www.localschoolsworkingtogether.deewr.gov.au
